Deck Building Day 4

calgary stampeders

So Since Thursday ended up with no time to work on the deck since we went over to some friends in the afternoon and the Stamps had their opening game last night, I had to wait untill today to finish off the base of the deck.

I had big hopes today, It felt like I could get pretty close to finishing the deck off.

Deck Building Day 3

Well things are really coming along now!

Only had a half day to work on the deck today since I had an appointment downtown, but made good progress none the less. First of all I finished of the corner arc of our deck, check out how well it all fits together!

Deck Building Day 2

So finally I get to finish day two of the deck. Truthfully the day went pretty good.

Here in the first image I have the frame and beams laid out and checking that everything is level and square and guess what take a look at the level! everything was perfectly level and square! I surprised myself.

Building My Deck

So on a change of pace from programming, I've decided to put together a couple of articles on the trials and tribulations of building my deck on my own.

Late nights with IIS (or why I'll stick with Apache)

I just recently ported a php application for a company from a Linux box to a Windows server running iis, and have been struggling all week with performance problems on the site. So after much digging around newsgroups I finally found why the new server is being so slow. It really boiled down to two things:

Flex adding subelements as properties to a custom component

I was trying to extend a TextArea control, and all was working well untill I tried to use my class like the following:

  1. <widget:myhtmltextarea> <mx:htmltext> <!--[CDATA[
  2. <DIV STYLE="text-align:LEFT;"><SPAN STYLE="color:#7DB73F;font-size:20px;font-family:'Times New Roman';">Title Text</SPAN></DIV>
  3. ]]--></mx:htmltext> </widget:myhtmltextarea>

which of course resulted in the nice cryptic error message :

Could not resolve <mx:htmltext> to a component implementation.
